Mailchimp Membership - September 2019 Updates

Mailchimp has made a few updates this month. The DailyMode Studio team wanted to ensure that you are aware of these updates and have an understanding of how these will affect your account.

Mailchimp + eCommerce (Shopify, Magento, Big Cartel, etc.)

Mailchimp will now segment out non-subscribers to your email list. A non-subscribed contact is someone who has interacted with an online store but has not opted in to receive marketing email campaigns. These contacts are synced from your connected e-commerce store and saved in Mailchimp as transactional emails.

How does this effect your account?

Non-subscribed contacts will count towards your monthly plan limit but will only be able to receive Mailchimp ads, postcards, and transactional emails. Non-subscribers will NOT be able to receive marketing emails such as promotional emails, newsletters, surveys, and event invitations.

Legacy Plan Pricing is changing - effective October billing cycle

Prices will increase for customers on most monthly legacy plans by an average of 14 percent, effective with their October billing cycles.

Pay As You Go pricing for legacy customers on $9.99/month plans won’t change at this time.

The price increase for all other paid legacy plans depends on the number of subscribers you have, but everyone will be able to view their new pricing using the calculator in their account immediately following their next billing date.

What is a legacy plan?

Mailchimp introduced a new pricing model on May 15, 2019. If you had a paid Mailchimp account before they introduced the new pricing model, your plan is now called a legacy plan.

When will this affect my pricing?

This pricing will show on your October billing cycle. Mailchimp will send a preview of your new charges before then for your review. You’ll also have immediate access to the Mailchimp calculator to see whether you want to upgrade or downgrade.
